My work is inspired by the balance that is always present in nature and found in all aspects of human life. It is reflective of the relationship between nature and human experience. Taking cues from the forms, colors and patterns found in the natural world, I strive to create work that exists within a language all of its own, leaving room for individual interpretations.
Paintings usually start from experiments with cut-out paper, where a composition comes about from the repetition of an inspired form or shape. Improvisation allows the creative process to ultimately dictate its own course. My paintings are concerned with the interplay of space, and my interest in sculptural language informs my process as well.
By observing—and then reimagining—the natural world, my goal as an artist is to create work that invokes the mysterious act of creation itself.
